Description

Situated in what many consider to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, « la Maison de Domme » is a simply exquisite holiday rental in Domme (Dordogne) villa made for an unforgettable family holiday. This 13th-century house located right in the town center of Domme has been carefully restored to preserve its historic Périgord architecture while providing the modern comforts its discerning guests require.

The villa’s ground floor has a spacious dining room which seats up to eight, and opens welcomingly on to the garden. There’s an attractive fitted kitchen and a cosy living room with a stone-flagged fireplace. On the first floor, three en suite bedrooms enjoy plenty of natural light, and the master bedroom has a hydromassage shower cubicle. An attic space has a further en suite bedroom and also a lounge area which can be converted into an extra bedroom suitable for teenagers or staff.

Stepping into the garden, the heady fragrances of fruit trees, flowers and spices overwhelm the senses. You can relax by a heated swimming pool, or on a pleasant terrace shaded with grapevines.

The shops and cafes of pretty Domme are right on the doorstep, with the village offering sweeping views of the Dordogne River valley and surrounding landscape from its tranquil streets.

    Simple but elegant ambience

    This property is an absolute delight. The layout and simple but elegant ambience suited us perfectly, it was spotlessly clean and everything worked perfectly (thanks to the comprehensive briefing given by Patricia). The location in this gorgeous village was ideal – walking distance to excellent restaurants such as Chabanoix et Chataignes, Auberge de la Rode and Comptoir D’Annam (over the road) and to fabulous lookouts, walks, the local cave and some good shops. The outdoor entertainment area was such a pleasant spot for lunches and relaxing around the pool.
    As we were celebrating a special birthday we used the services of a chef that was offered – what a fabulous experience! The quality of the food and the friendly yet professional service was first class – thank you David and to Patricia for organising! We have no hesitation in recommending this property for couples wishing to stay in a beautiful house in a centrally located village for a wonderful Dordogne experience.

    Wonderful home for exploring the Dordogne

    We spent two weeks in this beautiful house and can’t recommend it enough. It is exactly as the description says. The location in the village is wonderful to be able to walk and get pastries in the AM or to stroll to dinner in the evening. The house is comfortable, spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed. Domme is a great location from which to explore the regions attractions – whether, going slightly further afield to Rocamadour (1 hour) or driving down the hill for a fabulous canoe trip down the river there is never any shortage of things to do. And, on several days a stroll through the village with a day spent poolside was plenty enough. Every part of the booking experience was seamless – the owner is quick to respond to questions and the maps and directions to the home perfect. The local host was delightful – she gave us great restaurant recommendations and spoke English perfectly. Highly recommended.
